NSPCC

NSPCC Scotland is delighted to be a charity partner of the Rob Roy Challenge.

We are leading the fight against child abuse in Scotland. We help children who’ve been abused to rebuild their lives, we protect children at risk, and we find the best ways of preventing child abuse from ever happening. Take on the Rob Roy Challenge for Team NSPCC, and help us keep children in Scotland safe.

What We’re Doing to Help

Child abuse is preventable, not inevitable. That’s why, every day, we work to protect children, prevent abuse and make child abuse a thing of the past.

Last year our Speak Out, Stay Safe programme in Scotland visited 918 schools and spoke to over 146,000 children, helping them to speak out if they have worries or concerns, and stay safe. Over the next 3 years we hope to visit all 2,184 schools in Scotland.

Our Childline service has been there for children for the past 32 years and on average, a child contacts Childline every 25 seconds. We have over 250 volunteer Childline counsellors in Scotland working from our bases in Aberdeen and Glasgow. Last year, they delivered over 50,000 counselling sessions to children and young people on issues from abuse and bullying to exam stress and relationships.

Our Together for Childhood Centre in the Govan area of Glasgow works directly with children, families and the local community to provide a whole community approach to child safety and wellbeing, through our specialist teams.

In addition, we provide support to keep children safe online, via our Net Aware tool and online safety advice helpline. We offer resources and guidance to help coaches, sports clubs and community groups in Scotland to keep children safe and we work with parents to help them talk PANTS and keep children safe.

As an independent charity, 90% of our funding comes from supporters like you. We rely on your support and donations to make sure we can keep every child who needs us safe. Every pound raised and every penny received will help make sure we can support more children.

  • £3 could pay for the NSPCC Speak Out, Stay Safe programme to reach one primary school child, giving them the knowledge to protect themselves from abuse.
  • £4 could pay for one of our trained volunteer counsellors to answer a child's call for help to Childline.
  • £25 could pay for one of our specialist team to support parents and families in caring for their children.
  • £1,600 could pay to recruit, train and support a new Childline volunteer counsellor for one year.
  • £2,300 could pay to recruit and train a Schools Service volunteer for one year.

Together we can help every child in Scotland reach their full potential.
Together we can give every child a safe childhood.
